Canon adquirirá Axis
Canon anuncia sus intenciones de adquirir Axis, en medio de una creciente demanda de cámaras digitales compactas. La operación de compra ya ha sido aprobada por los accionistas de ambas organizaciones por la suma de 333.700 millones de yenes, es decir unos 2.800 millones de dólares. La adquisición proporcionará un amplio abanico de productos de videovigilancia basados en tecnologías IP, y una plataforma de aplicaciones abiertas para el desarrollo de aplicaciones de terceras partes. De esta forma, se mejoraría el rendimiento de la compañía japonesa respecto a sus cámaras de fotos digitales en el extranjero.
Las cámaras representan casi el 40% del total del negocio de Canon y, de la misma manera que los smartphones han disparado las ventas de cámaras digitales compactas, la firma espera dar un espaldarazo importante a sus cámaras IP dentro del sector médico hospitalario.
